Mission Statement
The Law Enforcement Foundation of Barron County is a publicly supported, charitable organization dedicated to fostering public safety through community building, education, and out-reach.
In honor all officers, and in rememberance of the fallen, LEFBC is on a mission to Light Barron County Blue. During this initiative, we will have blue light bulbs available for you to display your support at home. You can pick up your free blue light bulbs at the Country Lane Farmer's Market on Thursdays through September.
The Origin
In 1989, Dolly Craig wrote to the Philadelphia chapter of Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) to explain she would be placing two blue lights in her window for the holidays. One was in memory of her son-in-law, Officer Danny Gleason, who was killed in the line of duty, and the other for her daughter, the officer's widow, who had died in a car crash that same year.
The Movement
The charity adopted her idea, and "Project Blue Light" was born. It became a national tradition where citizens place a single blue bulb in a window or on their porch to honor officers who have fallen and to show backing for those still serving.
