About Us
The Law Enforcement Foundation of Barron County, founded in 2009, is an independent, non-profit, charitable organization dedicated to fostering public safety through community building, education, and outreach. In concert with area police departments, the foundation works with a range of community safety advocates to develop and implement public safety and crime prevention programs.
While city budgets provide the necessary resources to fund their operations, a number of important community programs have been threatened or cut due to lack of funding. The foundation was created as a catalyst in responding to this threat, so that no innovative program would be left behind.
Shop with a Cop
Shop with a Cop is an annual event and an opportunity for the cops to help give back to the community. Local businesses donate to the program and then local law enforcement take kids that need some extra help at Christmas, shopping to get gifts for family members at Christmas. They also get to get something for themselves. Then our long time partner, Adventures in Rice Lake, feeds all the kids and cops at no charge to close out the night. It is a chance for our cops partnering with our community to put some extra smiles on the kids faces, and the cops, who sometimes have a bigger one than the kids.
